Ready to breathe underwater for the first time? You've found the right place to take that first giant stride into the world beneath the waves. Fish With Ray offers top-rated scuba diving courses that'll get you comfortable underwater, whether you're testing the waters with a simple try-dive or working toward your first certification. We keep things personal with one-on-one instruction, so you'll never feel rushed or lost in a crowd. Every course starts in shallow, protected water where you can master the basics before exploring deeper sites.
Your underwater adventure kicks off with our Discover Scuba Diving program - perfect if you want to see what all the fuss is about without committing to a full certification course. You'll spend time in shallow water learning how to breathe through a regulator, clear your mask, and move around comfortably in full scuba gear. Once you've got the hang of it, we'll take you on a guided tour of the local dive site where you can practice your new skills while checking out the marine life. For those ready to dive deeper into the hobby, our PADI courses build from beginner-friendly Scuba Diver certification all the way up to Advanced Open Water. The Scuba Diver course gets you certified to dive with a professional to 40 feet, while Open Water certification means you can buddy dive independently to 60 feet anywhere in the world. Advanced Open Water adds specialty skills like deep diving, night diving, and underwater navigation through five adventure dives.
We provide all the essential scuba gear - mask, fins, snorkel, wetsuit, BCD, regulator, and tank. Before every dive, we'll do a proper safety briefing covering hand signals, emergency procedures, and the dive site layout. You'll learn basic skills like the regulator recovery, mask clearing, and controlled emergency swimming ascent in shallow water first. We use the buddy system on every dive, and as your instructor, I stay close enough to help but give you space to explore and build confidence. Water entry techniques vary by site - sometimes we do giant stride entries from a platform, other times we'll wade in from shore. Buoyancy control is the key skill that separates comfortable divers from those who struggle, so we spend extra time getting your weighting right and teaching you how to use your lungs and BCD to hover effortlessly. Navigation underwater relies on natural references, compass headings, and good communication with your dive buddy.
Local waters host an amazing variety of fish species that make every dive interesting, even for beginners. Parrotfish are customer favorites - these colorful reef fish can grow up to two feet long and spend their days chomping on coral with their beak-like mouths. You'll hear them crunching away before you see them, and they're active year-round, though they're most abundant during warmer months. Their bright blues, greens, and yellows make them perfect subjects for underwater photos. Angelfish are another reliable sighting that always gets new divers excited. These disc-shaped beauties cruise the reef in pairs or small groups, and they're curious enough to swim close if you stay still and breathe slowly. Peak season for angelfish activity runs from late spring through early fall when water temperatures hit their sweet spot. Grouper add some serious size to your dive log - these chunky predators can reach impressive proportions and often hang out in the same spots dive after dive. They're ambush hunters that rely on their camouflage, so spotting one feels like discovering hidden treasure. Winter months bring larger grouper closer to shore as they follow baitfish movements.
Whether you're curious about breathing underwater or ready to earn your first scuba certification, Fish With Ray delivers world-class instruction in a relaxed, personal setting. Our one-on-one approach means you learn at your own pace without pressure from other students or rushed timelines. The underwater world is waiting, and there's no better time than now to discover what you've been missing below the surface. Book your Discover Scuba Diving session or choose the PADI course that matches your goals - either way, you'll finish with a huge smile and probably start planning your next dive before you're even dry.
